Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard surfaces
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his first championship for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
The athlete, a ex- number one, has experienced a difficult season, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the US Open.
Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in particular - caused him falling of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with former mentor Cervara.
Currently training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily improved in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive win over opponent Corentin Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's initial title after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt since that period of 2023.
The win also indicates the Russian has achieved twenty-one championships at twenty-one different tournaments.
"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my both daughters at once, so to secure a title is particularly special," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the first title I won when my older daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."
The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, comprising in the German tournament earlier this year.
Medvedev's retrieving approach and recurring emotional displays on court had prompted commentators to wonder if his skill to perform at the top level was over.
However the athlete has made changes in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and play positively, reinforced by an enhanced service.
Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky opponent, taking 4 of the last five exchanges to take the lead.
Both players swapped break points in the following set before the challenger, striving for his initial professional victory, seized the initiative to create a third set.
Moutet rescued four initial opportunities in a competitive final set before Medvedev broke to that score to close out the victory.
Appropriately, he earned the win with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
